Mid-20th century, post-WWII Brutalist, vintage Modernist welded & torched abstract metal sculpture on marble stone plinth block bases. 19 ½ " Height x 10" Width x 11 Depth. 7 ¼ " base Height x 4 ¼ " base Width x 4 ¼ base Depth.

For sale is this superb Brutalist mid-century welded and torched copper and aluminum metal table sculpture in the form of orbiting, multi-level forms, hovering and rotating around an unseen epicenter. The 19 1/2 in height cut copper and aluminum forms alternate between curved copper mesh metal pieces, resembling orange spears, with their curved shape. The result of this abstract conceptual sculpture is a kind of whimsical operatic ballet, incredibly realized out of welded, torched and etched metal.

The sculpture defies its metal material components, with its airiness and open format. One metal spear appears to be two-ply, with copper on the outside, feature a scrolled, etched surface and aluminum underlayment, adding to the appearance of substantiality, mass and weight. The metal sculpture's unsigned but attributed to the Modernist sculptor Irmgard Mahler. It along with other Brutalist metal sculpture and several Modernist pieces of furniture and decorative items, were all found in the same southern Maine coastal estate. It sits on a white marble base.
