This is a pack of 20 ingots of 5 Star Metal. This is lead free pewter. It is optimised to be easy to cast with and will give good detail to any cast figure. It is safe for children to handle the resulting figures.

Approx 1700 grams in weight (85 grams each approximately). PRODUCT CODE: 2060 (x20 bars). CONTENTS: 20 bars of casting'lead free' metal.

A single bar can cast about 9x 25mm single figures, 5x 40mm scale single figures, 2 and a half 54mm single figures. Ingates should be remelted between castings. This set of 20 bars is ideal for casting a full 54mm scale 32 piece chess set. 5 Star metal (94.5% Tin / 3% Zinc / 2.5% Antimony) is the safest metal as it is lead free. However it is more difficult to cast than Model Metal and we recommend that you vent all moulds. Melts at 230° C (446° F). Apply release powder to both mould halves evenly. Gently clap the moulds together to remove excess powder. Add the two support boards to the sides of the moulds and hold firmly together with the metal clamps. Melt metal in the casting ladle. Use a worn match to check that the metal is at the correct temperature. If the match smokes lightly when placed in the metal it means that it is ready to pour. Pour carefully into the mould holes and tap lightly to settle metal. When cool (5 minutes), open the mould and bend the mould away from the figure to remove it. Clip away any excess metal off the figure and base, file to keep base flat. Polish with a wire brush. (wire snips, file and brush not included). Your figure is ready to paint. We advise undercoating it first and varnishing it when finished painting to protect it. Any orders or questions sent in will be dealt with the next work day. Prince August Metal are recommended for children over 14 years. Protect worktops from hot metal by covering then with a newspaper or a sheet of hard board.

Any spilled metal can be removed after it cooled down. Do not cool down the metal or mould with water.
